CuneiForm is a free system from the Russian company Cognitive Technologies which allows for OCR (optical character recognition).
In the beginning, the system was developed as a commercial product coming with certain models of scanners.
After a short break in the development, Cognitive Technologies company stopped supporting sales of the system.
Today CuneiForm is a system for converting electronic documents and images into editable form and at the same tim it allows to keep the original structure and fonts, in both automatic and semi-automatic modes.
CuneiForm includes two programs that are used for both single and batch processing of documents in electronic form.
In December 2007, the source codes of the system were announced, as well as freeware-version CuneiForm was released.
In April 2008 Cuneiform's sources were also published, however licensed under BSD. In Fall of the same year sources of the CuneiForm system interface were published.
Update of the latest version of OpenSource designed for Windows operating system hasn't been carried out since 02.14.2009. At the moment, this version is not offered for download. A new version released on 11.11.2008 became its worthy substitute. Download CuneiForm free from our website .
