PUBG NEW STATE is a battle royale mobile shooter for Android, set in the year 2051. The game is a standalone project from Krafton, offering a futuristic take on the classic survival formula, where a hundred players are dropped onto a vast map and battle it out to the last man standing. Unlike the original PUBG Mobile, the focus here is on a high-tech setting — reconnaissance drones, electric barricades, and weapons with modular upgrades right on the battlefield. Visually, the project stands out thanks to an updated engine with global lighting and more detailed destruction physics.
Gameplay
The match begins as usual: players jump out of a plane over a large map, gathering weapons, gear and vehicles as the safe zone gradually shrinks. The key difference is the in-battle weapon crafting system. A rifle you’ve found can be fitted on the spot with a scope, a modified stock or an underbarrel grenade launcher, using the resources you’ve gathered. Vehicles here aren’t just for getting around — some are equipped with shields, and motorbikes allow you to fire whilst moving. Modes include classic 4v4 battles, as well as separate competitions with unique rules, where the zone shrinks much faster.
Features
- A futuristic setting featuring 2051 technologies — surveillance drones and energy barriers add tactical depth
- Modular weapon customisation directly during the match, without menus or pauses
- The 8×8 km Troi map featuring neon-lit megacities and derelict industrial zones
- Environmental destruction system — building walls can be blown through with explosives, creating new tactical routes
- Support for gyroscopic aiming and fully customisable controls
- Regular seasonal updates with new maps and game modes
Pros
- Graphics a cut above most mobile shooters — global illumination, volumetric fog and realistic reflections on wet surfaces
- Optimisation allows for smooth gameplay even on mid-range devices at a stable 30 frames per second
- The anti-cheat system is noticeably more aggressive than that of competitors, reducing the number of unfair players
- The roll-dodge mechanic adds dynamism to close-quarters firefights
Drawbacks
- The installation size exceeds 1.5 GB, and with additional resources it rises to 3 GB — this is a problem for budget devices with limited memory
- The cosmetic shop persistently pushes purchases, even though they don’t affect the game balance
- Queues for matches in less popular modes can last over a minute, especially at night
- Some interface elements lack a Ukrainian translation, mixing English with Korean
Technical features
The game is built on Krafton’s proprietary engine, which supports HDR rendering on compatible displays and real-time depth-of-field effects. On flagship Snapdragon 8-series chipsets, Ultra mode is available at 90 frames per second, although the battery drains noticeably faster as a result. The network code is optimised for unstable mobile connections — the game is tolerant of short-term ping spikes of up to 200 ms without any noticeable lag. Bluetooth controllers are supported, but matchmaking in this case groups players using controllers into a separate pool.
